Best of Luck Dayle!

Best of Luck Dayle!

Dayle Takitimu was  invited to participate on scholarship in the 2015 Global Leadership Programme in New York – a leadership development course run conjointly between the United Nations and Columbia University.

Twenty-six participants worldwide were invited to enrol this year; with 4 being from the Pacific region, including Dayle from New Zealand. Dayle’s participation was enabled by the generous sponsorship of the International Indigenous Womens Forum and was supported locally by the Maori Womens Welfare League.

The Global Leadership Programme involves weekly study throughout the year on human rights, constitutional matters, international advocacy and (as is her nominated focus area) indigenous issues – with research and collaboration occurring since January via an online teaching platform and then culminating in attendance at the intensive training course hosted at both the United Nations Headquarters in New York and Columbia University’s Manhattan campus.

During her time in New York Dayle attended the UN Permanent Forum for Indigenous Issues at the United Nations in an advocacy capacity.

As you can imagine, we are very proud of Dayle for being invited to attend, and are inspired by her achievement and continued work in this area.

Dayle has since moved to Gisbourne to be closer to whanau, and has taken a sabbatical from practicing law. We are very proud to have had Dayle as a lawyer in our firm, and would like to wish her well.

Congratulations Hine Joy

Congratulations Hine Joy

We are pleased and proud to announce that Hine-Joy Weiland is now a Solicitor in the firm - officially confirmed as of 5 March 2015. Hine-Joy was admitted as a Barrister & Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in Hamilton last week and has just moved into her new office, ready to take on her Solicitor role in our Maori/Commercial Team.

Hine-Joy will be working closely with Dayle Takitimu, with Partner support from John Kahukiwa. We wish Hine-Joy all the best with her legal career and know she will be a great asset to the firm, as she has already proved to be one as a support person in the Maori/Commercial Team since last year.

You can see her profile here.

We would like to welcome three new staff to our firm, Julia Harper-Hinton and Hine-Joy Weiland, who have joined in our Maori / Commercial Team and Anita Allan who has joined as an Associate in our commercial team.

Please check out Julia's profile on our Solicitors Tab and Anita's on the Associates Tab.

Hine-Joy provides support to our Maori/Commercial Team comprising John Kahukiwa, Partner, Dayle Takitimu, Associate and now Julia, Solicitor.  (Update:  Please note Hine-Joy has since be admitted and is now practicing as a solitictor in the Maori Commercial Team)
