Julia specialises in public law and Māori legal issues; including judicial review applications, High Court applications and Tiriti O Waitangi claims, both historical and contemporary.
Julia’s experience includes representing hapu claimants in Te Paparahi O Te Raki Inquiry, the Tuhoronuku mandate Inquiry and the Ngāti Wai mandate inquiry.
Julia has acted for clients in urgency proceedings, assisting clients with preparation of their evidence, drafting statements of claim, legal submissions and preparation of judicial review and High Court applications under the Marine and Coastal (Takutai Moana) Act 2011.
Julia also gained general legal practice experience in company, property and family law while working at a law firm in Samoa.
While in London Julia worked on the Baha Mousa Public Inquiry which inquired into the death of Iraqi civilian Baha Mousa while in military custody.
Julia is of Ngati Rangiwewehi descent.
